Our view We are still a long way from achieving total acceptance into society for gay men and lesbians in Europe, with full equality of rights with heterosexuals.
Our objective Put on a massive show of strength to further our demand for full social acceptance and equality of rights with heterosexuals, particularly with regard to couples.
Our theme European citizenship: a growing reality. For the first time in its history, EuroPride has taken on a truly political dimension.
Our demand We demand real European citizenship among lesbians and gay men
Our mission To continue without respite the battle against AIDS and to strengthen public health policy.
Our events Paris, 19 to 29 June, 1997, 10 days of all-Europe gay events, including EuroGames, Gay EuroSalon, and the EuroPride extravaganza.

300,000 expected to march
Begins at 1pm at Place de la République (Métro: République).
Ends at 6pm at Pelouse de Reuilly (via the Bastille).

For the first time, in EuroPride's history, the event's emphasis is on our political demands. To this end, a formal statement has been presented to around a hundred associations, trade unions, political parties and civil rights activists all over Europe, to be signed. With this political support behind it, this text demands that the powers be faced up to their responsibilities: the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the European Commission, particularly in the context of the Inter-Governmental Conference (IGC), and the European states.

Moreover, a petition will be started at the european scale in order to demand that a protocol be added to the European Convention for Human Rights.
