Affirm their will to act jointly towards the recognition of gay
and lesbian couples in the European countries.
Considering that the right of two persons, of same sex or of opposite
sexes, to unite is a fundamental right,
Attached to the principles of social justice, solidarity and equality
of rights that are carried by the social-democrats and socialists,
Convinced of the necessity to take into account the evolution
of the societies and to promote a social transformation meeting
these principles,
They ask that a legal framework in which homosexual
couples may take place be established,
They ask that these types of union be mutually recognised by the
States,
They ask the social-democrat and socialist parties taking part
in the European governments, and notably those of the thirteen
member states of the European Union, to implement these requests
in their own countries and to support them by the governments
of the other countries.
